About the project
Ensō is a conceptual music album – a sonic Dream Book of musical journeys from one’s roots throughout the world of international influences towards the rediscovery and reinvention of native musical traditions.
In Zen, ensō is a circle that is hand-drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create.
A circle is also a symbolic metaphor for travels, reoccurrence of sound patterns in music, and a symbol of the cyclical narrative of ebbs and flows. Symbolising a circle of friends gathered to play music.
It refers metaphorically to the repetition of sonic patterns, occurrences, and figures, which constitute music phenomena. Finally, it is a symbol of the cycle of wandering and returning.
